Concerts are a great place to practice your skill of striking up a conversation with someone you don’t know. If you’re shy or don’t speak the same language as the person you want to talk to, don’t worry! There are plenty of ways to break the ice and start an engaging conversation with someone new.
Here are some tips on how to start a conversation with people when going to concerts:
Wear your favorite band’s merchandise.
If you’re going to a concert alone, wearing your favorite band’s t-shirt will make it easier for other people to approach you and start talking about what they like about that particular group. You might even end up with a new friend before the night is over!
Don’t be afraid to ask
Asking questions is a nice way to get people talking about themselves and it gives them an opportunity to share something interesting about themselves or their interests with you. The key here is not to ask too many questions at once so that they don’t feel overwhelmed by all your inquiries; ask one question at a time until they say something that strike
Talk about the show.
You can ask them what they think about the singer or band, how they like the venue, or maybe even if they’ve been in the same venue before. If you’re feeling bold, you could even try asking them what they thought about the music or lyrics. Maybe even ask them what their favorite song is from tonight’s setlist!
Ask where they’re from.
One way to get people involved in a conversation is by asking them questions about themselves: “Where did you come from?” Or “What brings you here tonight?” Asking these types of questions will help break the ice and get the other person talking — which means more opportunities for both parties to enjoy themselves together!
Tell them about yourself.
Now is the time to gain a friend with at least one thing in common – the love for a certain band/artist! You could also mention other things about you like your hobbies or the things you are into. With that, you could exchange social media accounts and keep in touch!
